The millions bring impossible expectations to Manchester City

Has Mark Hughes steps aside for Roberto Mancini you can’t help but wonder if the expectations of the Man City owners are impossible.   Where have the millions gone so far, Robinho, Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor, who have all be something of a disapointment.

Where will Mancini be looking to improve the team?  The flanks and defence will be a focus.  The defence looked weak against Sunderland.

Alan Hanson has been vocal in his suprise that Hughe’s is to be replaced by Mancini.  Understandable, he says, if it was for the likes of Gus Hiddink.  Roberto Mancini was a gifted player, but, his managerial qualities are still unproven, with his performance at Inter Milan probably due more to the lack of a real contender than real skill.  It may be worth checking the odds of Jose Mourinho suceeding Mancini at the Eastlands.

So what of Mancini’s rumoured transfer and hHow many millions will he have to spend?  With attention be paid to Man City weakness in the fall back position Inter Milan and the Brazilian Maicon is a possible solution.

With Micah Richards finding it difficult and Pablo Zabletta really being just cover, the right-back position is a problem for City. They may also look to improve the other flank, although Lescott, when fit, could move over if Mancini does not rate Wayne Bridge, who has not done so well since his move from Chelsea.

Maicon has played in France and now Italy.  In Italy he has looked to improve on his weakness in defence.   For some videos of Maicon and more discussion vist 101GreatGoals
